A Dream of Compassionate Care Angel Askins’ dream of creating a compassionate sanctuary for pets began over 20 years ago. With a background as a licensed funeral director for over 33 years and 20 years of experience as a crematory operator, Angel envisioned a place where pets would receive the same special care and compassion as our human family members. Specialized Care Located in Oklahoma, Angel’s Pet Funeral Home and Crematory stands out as the only facility in the state entirely dedicated to honoring our four-legged companions. Unlike traditional funeral homes, Angel’s operates independently, ensuring that your beloved pet is treated with the utmost dignity and respect. You can rest easy knowing that every aspect of their care is handled with love. Personalized Services for Unique Grief Understanding that grief is a personal journey, Angel’s offers a range of services to ease the burden during this challenging time. Our services include: Pick-Up and Delivery: We provide convenient pick-up and delivery from your veterinarian's office or your home, making the process as smooth as possible. Viewing Rooms: Our facility features two warm and inviting viewing rooms where families can say goodbye in a comforting atmosphere. Here, you can choose to have your pet euthanized in a peaceful setting, rather than in a sterile veterinarian's office. Memorial Options: Choose from laser-engraved urns or memorial stones to keep your pet’s memory alive. Engraving services are also available for a variety of materials, including leather, metal, and granite. Grief Counseling: We understand the impact of losing a pet and offer monthly grief counseling sessions led by a licensed therapist certified in pet loss therapy. These sessions are held on the second Saturday of each month and provide a supportive space for sharing feelings and memories. It’s Your Choice When the time comes, you have the power to choose how to memorialize your pet. Whether through cremation, burial, or a memorial service, Angel’s will coordinate with any veterinarian to alleviate the stress of this difficult process. Simply inform your vet that you choose Angel’s, and rest assured that both you and your pet will be treated like family. Our Services Pet Crematory: At Angel’s, we offer private cremations for pets of all sizes, conducted with dignity and respect. Our state-of-the-art facility allows families to witness the cremation if they wish. While it’s a difficult subject, we aim to provide a meaningful experience during such times. Cremation fees are based on your pet's weight; please contact us for detailed pricing. Pet Funeral Home & Chapel: Our chapel can accommodate up to 55 people, providing a serene space for memorial services or celebrations of your pet’s life. The chapel is also available for events or meetings, fostering a sense of community during times of sorrow. Viewing Rooms: Angel designed the viewing rooms to provide a comforting farewell for families. You can choose to have your pet brought from your vet’s office to the viewing room, allowing your family to grieve and say goodbye in a more personal setting. Pet siblings are also welcome to be part of this heartfelt goodbye. Pick-Up & Delivery Services: Angel’s offers complimentary pick-up from any veterinarian clinic within a 25-mile radius of Tulsa. For home removals, a fee of $35.00 applies. For pickups outside the 25-mile radius, a mileage fee of $1.50 per mile (one way) will be charged. Laser Engraving Services: In addition to urns and memorial stones, we provide engraving services for various items, allowing you to personalize your pet's memorial in a special way. At Angel’s Pet Funeral Home and Crematory, we are committed to providing a comforting and compassionate experience for families facing the loss of their beloved pets. We invite you to visit our facility or reach out for more information about how we can assist you during this difficult time. [read more]

View ProfileDecember 9th Random Observations of The Grand Lake Bum Last Saturday was the final deadline for signing up for Medicare or one of the zillion “advantage” plans. With the election behind us and the Medicare deadline past, you may now resume your normal TV schedule of commercials for car dealers and furniture stores. ***** Good news for those of us who hate “standard” time. The earliest sunset of the year was last Thursday. It gets better from here. I can’t wait for March 9 and the return of Daylight Saving Time! It’s not even officially “winter” yet…and I’m ready for summer! ***** Here we are in the chilly weather season, though; and it’s a crazy busy holiday week at Grand Lake this week. We already kicked off the season with parades over the past weekend including the big one across the Pensacola Dam, the Vinita Parade and the awesome “Lights On Festival” in Grove (including a $10,000 cash giveaway!). The weather looks really nice for all the parades on land and on Grand for the weekend ahead. Plus…‘Tis the season, folks. Brace yourself for all the goofballs pretending someone is trying to stop them from saying “Merry Christmas.” And, by the way…Merry Christmas! ***** I have already lost track of how much longer it is until Christmas. I guess I’m going to have to get a real calendar because, according to the remaining liquor in my special advent calendar, Christmas is the day after tomorrow. ***** I guess we’ve finished all our bitching about prices being too high. Thanksgiving travel, Black Friday sales, and Cyber Monday sales all set new records. ***** Speaking of the high cost of things, people who are still complaining about the price of eggs are screaming for OU and OSU Football coaches to be fired after disappointing seasons. Mike Gundy’s got a pay cut and a revised contract instead of a $25 million contract buyout at OSU, and Brent Venables looks safe at OU. For OU to fire Venables, they would have to cut him a buyout check for $44.8 million. So, Gundy and Venables both seem to be safe in their jobs. Too bad for them. The best job in America is STILL “fired football coach.” ***** If you’ve been seeing all the social media posts about Target Stores planning to open full-service bars in their stores…it’s not true. Apparently, that was just a ploy to get men in the stores. ***** GRAND LAKE BUM SHOUT-OUTS: Happy birthday wishes go out this week to Grand Lakers Kim Hudelson, Charlotte Oglesby, Konrad Faust, Doug Smith, Dwain Richardson, Barbara Callison, Debbie McCurdy, George Blair, Larry Duke, Dustin Matthews, Amy Redus, Shirley Brown, Holly Roach, Renee Hartley, Nevyle Cable, Jill Swisher, Brad Milanowski, Amber Benson, Jade Piper, Christie Landry, Shelby McDonald, Katie Hutson, and Tina Blackman. ***** BEST GRAND LAKE EVENTS THIS WEEK: The Christmas lights are up and ready for drive-thru visits at Twin Bridges State Park. It contains more than 200 miles of water pipes. ***** FUN FACT OF THE WEEK: In 1978, young entrepreneur Richard Branson tried to impress his girlfriend by pretending to purchase a private island. The island was priced at $6 million, but Branson offered a ridiculous $100,000. Much to everyone’s surprise, the owner ultimately agreed to a price of $180,000 – and Branson actually bought it. That island – Necker Island – is now valued at $153 million and is a luxury resort that's popular with celebrities, including Barack and Michelle Obama, Nelson Mandela, Harry Styles, and Oprah Winfrey. The island is available to rent for up to $128,000 PER NIGHT! ***** ODD FACT OF THE WEEK: Frank Phillips, founder of Phillips Petroleum, dropped out of school at 14 to become a barber. ***** BEST FACEBOOK POST OF THE WEEK: Still trying to bag a big buck? I looked at the calendar and realized 2025 actually starts out with a WTF! ***** PUN OF THE WEEK: If a cow doesn’t produce milk, is it a milk dud or an udder failure? ***** UNANSWERED QUESTION OF THE WEEK: If Santa Claus raised cattle, would that make him a Jolly Rancher? ***** OBSERVATION OF THE WEEK: To anyone I offended this year, please work on yourself so I don’t have to do it again in 2025. ***** QUOTE OF THE WEEK: “The less talent they have, the more pride, vanity, and arrogance they have. All these fools, however, find other fools who applaud them.” – Erasmus (1509) ***** FEEL-OLD MOMENTS OF THE WEEK: It was 44 years ago this week that Beatle John Lennon was murdered. This state-of-the-art facility plays a crucial role in GRDA’s ongoing efforts to manage and protect the natural resources under its care. Extensive Natural Resources The GRDA oversees nearly 70,000 acres of lake water surface in Oklahoma, encompassing the vast expanses of Grand Lake, Lake Hudson, and the W.R. Holway Reservoir. Since 2016, its stewardship has also extended to the picturesque waters of the Illinois River. This extensive area is not only vital for recreational activities but also serves as an important habitat for various wildlife species. Advanced Water Quality Laboratory At the heart of the Ecosystems and Education Center is a state-of-the-art water quality laboratory. Here, GRDA's dedicated team members engage in ongoing water quality monitoring, ensuring the health and sustainability of the water resources. Regular testing and analysis enable the GRDA to maintain high standards of water quality, safeguarding both recreational users and the ecosystem. A One-Stop Resource for Lake Area Needs Beyond the laboratory, the Ecosystems and Education Center serves as a “one-stop permit shopping” location for lake area residents and visitors. Whether you are preparing to build a dock, an angler looking to schedule a tournament, or someone seeking lake-related permits for Grand Lake or Lake Hudson, the center offers the resources and assistance you need to navigate the permitting process smoothly. Community Engagement and Education One of the most significant features of the Ecosystems and Education Center is the Grand Hall, a spacious auditorium and community meeting area available for rental. This versatile space offers stunning views of Grand Lake and Pensacola Dam, making it an ideal venue for events and gatherings. Throughout much of the year, the Grand Hall also functions as a classroom for student groups. Here, learners engage in educational programs focused on various topics, including: Ecosystem Management: Understanding the delicate balance of local ecosystems. Hydroelectric Power: Exploring how the GRDA harnesses water power to generate electricity. Water and Electric Safety: Learning essential safety practices for interacting with water and electrical systems. History of the Grand River Region: Delving into the rich history and cultural significance of the area.
